I think this thing hates me. I just picked it up from the tint place, going 70 on the highway aaaaaand....
Furthermore I can’t find my JLR-specific scanner, so I guess this one gets to remain a mystery for however long it takes me to find it. (I have some ideas, but SERIOUSLY!?)
EDIT 7/27 /2020: Found the scanner. It was under my dog’s bed for some reason. Code hasn’t come back since charging the battery, but I’ve also driven it about two blocks since then.

Are there any noticeable clunks or slipping?
I’d say check the fluid. If it’s not that, fuck it.

I really hope this thing starts letting you just drive it.
Surely believing in it will reverse the reputation of ford/jag electronics!

Nope. Drove fine. Shifts were a liiiiiitle slow, but no clunks or RPM spikes. I just did the fluid so now I wonder if I didn’t get enough in?

Check the battery voltage and charging system. Or just pull the cables, give it a battery nap and see if the error returns later.
I say that because low voltage was the #1 cause of transmission fault errors on 90's bmw’s. The tint place probably had the doors open and lights on and may have drained the battery to the point of throwing transmission errors, odd as that may sound.

It’s not that it doesn't like you. It doesn't like itself. Isn’t this stereotypical Jag behavior?

I’m not against this idea as it has been sitting not on a tender since I finished up my maintenance, plus I spent a lot of time futzing with the lights. Also it has had to minor electrical faults in that time. I think voltage was good but I don’t know that I have alarms set up on the UltraGauge for that just yet. I’ll throw it on a tender now and see what happens.

Well there are a ton of cracks and crevices that need fluid that don’t get filled until the trans runs through the gears. Hopefully it’ s just that!

I was about to suggest the exact same thing for the exact same reason, but sub Land Rover for BMW.

Yeah but everyone says X brand is unreliable and this is the first time I’ve found it to be true. The Land Rover, Saab* , Volvo(s) , and Alfa have all been great. My Hondas not so much... confusingly.
* Before sitting in a field for 12 years the Saab was great. After that not so much, but I blame myself.

The above suggestive make me happy for oppo. Now if we could just figure out a way to turn the suggestions political. Wait, fuck that.
